Chomsky on Congnitive Linguistics: An Interview

It is claimed in Cognitive Linguistics that the philosophical foundation of Cognitive Linguistics is opposed to that of Generative Grammar. While the founding father of Generative Grammar, Noam Chomsky, holds that the two fields address complementary aspects of language, that the attack from Cognitive Linguistics is a created battle with no one on the other side, that Cognitive Linguistics failed to presuppose Generative Grammar, and that it would be difficult for Cognitive Linguistics to proceed without presupposing some form of Generative Grammar. This text is a transcription of the author's interview with Chomsky. It is published here to encourage and initiate a dialogue between Cognitive Linguists and Generative Grammarians.
