Cellular wave computing via nanoscale chip architectures

摘要

Since the announcement of this Special Issue, we have witnessed an accelerated pace in increasing the complexity of multi-billion transistor chips and emerging novel operating modes. We are referring to two novel architectural phenomena in commercial CMOS devices: first, the appearance of the multi-kilo DSP cores and multi-mega logic processing cores in FPGAs; second, the introduction of vertical and 3-D integration. In addition, new cellular visual microprocessors are paving the way for very low-power sensor-computer integration combining mixed signal spatial-temporal operations in a digitally programmed algorithmic sequence.
