Investment-grade companies unleashed a deluge of new bonds on Thursday, demonstrating investors' appetite for US credit despite an uncertain global macroeconomic outlook. Ten issuers, including the walt disney company, american honda finance and sumitomo mitsui financial croup launched US$11.55bn of deals well inside initial price thoughts. That made Thursday the busiest day since May 23, when 12 deals were issued, and took the week's total to US$19.25bn, according to IFR data. "It's a perfect storm of cash flooding in ... and several weeks of limited supply," said a syndicate banker of the flurry of deals.
