US$9bn Saudi sukuk shatters record

SAUDI ARABIA made a splash with its debut US dollar Islamic bond deal last week, a US$9bn blockbuster that was the largest sukuk transaction ever sold. The sovereign amassed more than US$33bn in orders for the dual-tranche trade, also a record for the asset class as it carried the sukuk flag into international territory.
