KONINKLIJKE AHOLD DELHAIZE brought itS debut sustainability-linked bond (SLB) issue last Thursday, a €600m nine-year deal that sought to cater to the European Central Bank's purchase programme criteria while tapping into the growing demand for structures tied to key performance indicators. The ECB announced at the end of last year that it would start buying SLB bonds as long as they met certain criteria, and has been true to its word. The central bank's holdings under its asset purchase programme show that it bought some of H&M's €500m 0.25% August 2029 sold in February, the first trade to be eligible for purchase under the programme.
