US ECM bankers wasted no time refilling the ECM calendar for the post-Labor Day window, bringing a bustling slate of deals in a busier than usual restart after the summer break. Including CBs, the past week saw 25 US equity and equity-linked deals priced for proceeds of US$9.7bn, more than double the US$4.7bn haul in the same post-Labor Day week last year. The far more active than normal start to this key window for league table credit and banker bonuses reflects the desire of bankers and issuers to price deals while market conditions remain buoyant, fearful that recession talk will trigger a tough fourth quarter as was the case in 2018.
