As all major oxygen analyser suppliersrnhave released an improved version of theirrnexisting products or launched a newrnproduct based on optical technology overrnthe past 2 years, we thought it would bernan appropriate time to review the existingrntechnologies from a critical and objectivernviewpoint. Based on the oxygenrnmeasurement experience amassedrnby ORBISPHERE over 40 years in thernbrewing industry, and in bothrnamperometric and optical technologies,rnwe have evaluated the advantages andrndrawbacks of the most common oxygenrnsensors from the point of view of brewer'srnneeds. Critical aspects such as responserntime, long-term stability, and processrncondition effects are discussed as well asrnthe benefits of the latest development onrnthe oxygen optical sensors.
