Chinese President Hu Jintao told world leaders attending the U.N. Summit on Climate Change Sept. 22 that China will take "determined and practical steps" to address climate change, including efforts to cut carbon dioxide emissions per unit of gross domestic product by a "notable margin" from 2005 levels by 2020.rnIn his first address before the United Nations, which was addressed to nearly 100 heads of state and government gathered for the summit, Hu did not provide any specific numbers on how much China plans to reduce the intensity of its emissions.
