Chinese Science Academy Unveils Road Map For Scientific, Technological Development

The Chinese Academy of Sciences June 10 released a long-term science and technology strategy, which says China will focus on the development of key industries such as alternative energy and energy-efficient products.rnThe report, Creation 2050: Science, Technology and China's Future, focused on eight areas including agriculture, biomass, health care, energy, space exploration, and better utilizing mineral resources and raw materials.rnIt proposes that China concentrate on breakthroughs in alternative energy vehicles, clean coal technology, and mass transportation technology by 2020; a safer, more stable electricity grid system with large-scale use of nuclear, solar, and wind power by 2035; and advances in the use of geothermal, hydrogen, and ocean wave and ocean wind power technology by 2050.
