U.S. Envoy Outlines Climate, Energy Initiatives For Cooperation Between U.S., Caribbean

During a June 22 visit to Jamaica, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton outlined several programs for cooperation between the United States and Caribbean nations on issues including energy access and efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change. Clinton invited the Caribbean countries to join an Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas initiative focused on ensuring resilience against and adaptation to climate change. Formed in April 2009, the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas is headed by the leaders of countries in North America, Central America, and South America.
