摘要

Nigeria's government and Royal Dutch Shell Plc have failed to act on a United Nations 2011 report on oil pollution in Ogoniland in the Niger Delta, according to an Amnesty International joint assessment. A recommendation by the United Nations Environmental Program to set up a $1 billion fund to clean up contaminated land in the region hasn't been implemented and both the government and The Hague-based Shell have taken little action, according to the report published Aug. 4 by Amnesty International, Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development, Environmental Rights Action, Friends of the Earth Europe, and Platform.
