摘要

Denmark said it will devote 13.9 million kroner ($2.5 million) to a partnership between the private sector and research institutes trying to find safe substitutes for potentially hazardous chemicals. The project would offer funding over four years, Denmark's Environmental Protection Agency (MST) said in a May 19 statement. Peter H. Schaarup, an MST principal consultant in chemicals, told Bloomberg BNA the partnership could include universities and research institutes. The announcement follows the MST's publication March 24 of a new chemicals action plan for 2014 through 2017, which subjects companies operating in Denmark to additional inspections and broadens their obligations to detail the chemical content of their products (37 INER 496, 4/9/14). The plan also pledges to increase efforts to develop less harmful alternatives to a wide range of chemicals found in consumer products.
