Italy's Ministry of Environment formally unveiled a plan to spend at least 75 million euro ($82 million) aimed at boosting environmentally friendly transport, remediating asbestos from buildings, improving waste treatment systems and protecting coastal areas. The so-called Collegato Ambientale (Environmental Connections) initiative went into force Feb. 2 after Parliament approved it Dec. 28.
