As the U.S. withdraws a rule to require oil and gas companies to report all government payments to the SEC, the rest of the world is unlikely to slow down on tax transparency—possibly causing conflicting standards and headaches for multinational firms. Non-profit groups that have pushed for the rule, as well as stronger disclosure requirements on tax information in general, said they expect similar movements in Europe to continue, or gain strength.
