According to Liebherr, the Generation 6 range, "Will set new standards for crawler excavators in the 21 to 28 tonne category." It also said the new series, "Will achieve new levels of performance, economy, operating convenience and reliability." The first three models to be released are the R 906 with an operating weight of 21.7 to 23.3 tonnes, the 23.7 to 26.4 tonne R 916 Litronic and the 25.7 to 27.1 tonne R 926 Litronic. In response to different market requirements each new machine is available in 'Classic' or 'Advanced' version. Classic is aimed at typical earthmoving tasks while the Advanced versions have more technology on board and are designed to be more flexible. Liebherr is targeting sectors such as mining, embankment construction, industrial applications and demolition work with these higher spec machines.
