Manufacturer Volvo CE reported revenues of SEK 53.4 billion (US$8.2 billion) for 2013, down -16% compared to 2012. Its operating income also took a hit, dropping from SEK 5.67 billion (US$ 876 million) in 2012 to SEK 2.59 billion (US$ 400 million) last year. For 2014, a slight improvement in market demand is forecast, mainly driven by China and Europe. Oil and gas contractor Saipem reported a net loss for 2013 of €404 million (US$552 million). Revenues fell from € 13.4 billion (US$18.3 billion) in 2012 to €12 billion (US$16.4 billion). The company blamed the loss on weak order intake, extra costs and contract delays.
