Overhauling the market

While the off-highway hauler market is competitive, it isn't exactly bursting with manufacturers. Unlike the excavator or loader sectors, where there are more than a dozen international competitors and many more smaller manufacturers around the world, a handful of manufacturers currently fight it out for a global share of the hauler market. The last few years have seen new entrants in the form of German manufacturing giant Liebherr and China's XCMG, but December 2013 saw this trend reverse with the announcement that Volvo was to acquire the RDT and ADT manufacturing business of rival Terex.
