Antwerp starts lock gate replacement

The construction company P. Roegiers started work at the end of April on replacing the bottom rails of the Zandvliet lock gates, in the port of Antwerp. The work will be carried out by the caisson technique, thus minimising disruption to shipping traffic, and is due to be completed by the beginning of December 2009.
