Custom made: learn your way around GCC borders

This article considers the legal basis and the options that are available for enforcing intellectual property rights (IPR) at the border in the states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), namely Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. With such a broad topic, this article focuses on trademark protection in the main GCC markets, in particular the UAE (with a focus on Dubai). Many of the principles discussed in this article will also apply to other forms of IPR and to all the GCC states.
