摘要

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) maintains an intellectual property rights enforcement program that targets, intercepts, detains, seizes, and obtains the forfeiture of shipments of goods that violate intellectual property rights. To take full advantage of this program, registered trademark and copyright holders should first "record" their trademarks and copyrights with CBP. "Recording" is the process whereby CBP takes the information that it receives from trademark and copyright owners concerning their specific trademarks and copyrights and enters that information into an electronic database. This database is accessed by CBP officers to check shipments of goods coming into and going out of the country, so as to prevent infringing goods from entering or leaving the country.
