摘要

Political takeovers by gun-toting soldiers are not, as a rule, good news for government or business. But while Western leaders reacted waspishly to the Thai generals who ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in a bloodless coup d'etat on September 19, the financial community is ready to give them a chance. "Although the means were unorthodox, the coup could be positive," says Vincent Milton, who heads Fitch Ratings' operations in Thailand. Fitch did not change its BBB+ rating for the country but added a negative rating watch on the night of the coup.
