Kazakhstan Economy Resilient to External Shocks

The past several years have been remarkable for Kazakhstan's economy, which has been growing at a pace of at least 9 percent a year, thanks to favorable commodity prices worldwide and considerable inflows of foreign direct investment. Substantial foreign currency inflows into the economy have led to an increase in both foreign exchange reserves at the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) and in the assets of the National (Oil) Fund.
