Panelists at a Nov. 19 Professional Services Council event agreed the defense industry is reshaping, but argued it's too simplistic to call it consolidation. Many companies in the market have been rapidly making moves, from Lockheed Martin's acquisition of Sikorsky and planned divestiture of its government services work to Computer Sciences Corp.'s plan to separate its public sector business and combine that with SRA International. At the same time, Raytheon has made a significant push into commercial cybersecurity, while General Dynamics and Boeing have divested units that do this type of work.
