The Army's next-generation long-range guided missile system has been cleared to enter the next phase of the acquisition process. James MacStravic, the acting under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, signed a milestone A acquisition decision memorandum for Long Range Precision Fires March 31, according to an Army spokesman. The decision came later than expected. The Army Requirements Oversight Council issued a favorable decision in June 2016, sending the program on to the Defense Acquisition Board. Service spokesman Dan O'Boyle told Inside the Army in August that a Milestone A decision was expected in late September.
