Top packaging design and increased industry collaboration helps small scale food producers in Skane

Locally produced food has many advantages: less transportation, less processing and less packaging. It supports local farmers and preserves diversity and regional produce.Consumers are learning the benefits of locally produced food and many are positive towards buying such products. But how easy is it to find locally grown produce and what can the industry do to help address the challenges facing small scale producers?Our recent report, Packaging Design for Locally Produced Food, shows that many consumers find it difficult to distinguish locally produced products from others on the shop shelf. This is especially true when it comes to pre-packed products (such as meat and deli produce) as the packaging often isn't differentiated enough from standard food products and often fails to communicate the local angle.
