STRAY THOUGHTS

The idea that intellectual freedom is essential so that nations can progress towards the information society is one that this column has pressed on several occasions. Given this, the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) is on the right lines when it dedicates an area of core activity to Free Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE). The question, however, is whether this activity has been carried out in a way that really serves the principle effectively?
