Cyberfeminism in Northern Lights: Digital Media and Gender in a Nordic Context

The book is an anthology consisting of cyberfeminist research conducted by Nordic researchers in various national, regional and local Nordic contexts.rnThe Nordic context is defined as Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden; countries in which it should be possible to see the Northern Lights. Researchers and studies from all these countries participate in the book, with a slight overweight of Swedish researchers. In the introduction chapter, the editors Sunden and Sveningsson Elm argue that most of the research on cyberfeminism has been conducted from an Anglo-American perspective, although masked as universal. Sunden and Sveningsson Elm instead call for 'alternative, empirically grounded cyberfeminist perspectives and projects that make explicit their own cultural premises' (pp. 2 - 3).
