An experimental investigation on the performance of LOS microwave links in Southern India

摘要

The microwave field strength measurements are recorded on round-the-clock basis using six line-of-sight (LOS) microwave links situated in Southern India. For the six microwave links it is found that during the transition hours (0700-0900 and 1700-1900 hrs LT) maximum fading is observed due to dissolution and formation of nighttime temperature inversions. It is also found that diurnal cycle is not affected for the five LOS microwave links which have different frequencies. Investigations of the effect of path inclination on fade depth observed from five LOS microwave links are also reported. It is observed that as the path inclination increases, deep fades caused by layers are reduced.
