摘要

The Nathpa Jhakri hydroelectric project has the largest underground Powerhouse constructed so far in the country, having an installed capacity of 1500 MW under a single roof. Besides this, an underground desilting complex the largest in the world; the longest HRT of the world and one of the deepest and most voluminous surge shafts in the world are among its prides. The project has seen many landmark designs and has become a watershed for the art of hydroelectric engineering in India. All the six units of the project have been commissioned by now.
