摘要

The Nathpa Jhakri hydroelectric project is the largest underground powerhouse of the country, producing 1500 MW under one roof. Besides, the largest underground desilting complex of the world; the longest HRT of the world and one of the deepest and most voluminous surge shafts in the world are also the pride of the project. The project has seen many landmark designs and has become a watershed for the art of hydroelectric engineering in India. The first unit of 250MW of the project was commissioned on 14 October 2003; the 2nd was commissioned on 28th November 2003. Remaining units will be commissioned, one by one, by the end of July 2004.
