CMT and hybrid coding of the component color TV signal

An investigation of coding the NTSC color TV signal in the component form is carried out. C-matrix transform (CMT) and the hybrid (CMT / DPCM) coding are simulated on an intrafield basis. These techniques are found to be closely comparable to DCT and the corresponding hybrid coding techniques [15], [16]. CMT, which is an integer approximation to the DCT, is expected to yield almost the same processed picture quality as the DCT with less hardware.
