摘要

There are many interesting properties for the propagation of the electromagnetic waves in a two-dimensional (2-D) pillar-type photonic-crystal (PC) single straight waveguide structure with nonlinear medium properties. We propose a new frequency converter constructed with a 2-D pillar-type PC waveguide structure by utilizing both nonlinear properties and a compound waveguide structure. To simulate this new PC device with a nonlinear medium, we also explain how to treat nonlinearity with the condensed node spatial network method, which is a numerical means of simulating electromagnetic fields in three-dimensional space and the time domain like the finite-difference time-domain method.
