A simple approach for the analysis of linear systems containing periodically operated switches is described. It is based on computing the system's impulse response. This impulse response series is then reduced into a rational function form that makes the evaluation of its frequency spectrum quite easy. Illustrative examples are given to show that, as long as the incoming bandwidth is less than f/sub s//2 (where f/sub s/=1/T, T is the period of the periodically switched network), then the impulse response approach yields the system's frequency response.
