摘要

The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) has issued the consensus recommendations of a summit on the future of Section 8 vouchers which call for funding stability, a continued priority for serving households with extremely low incomes, rent simplification, and an end to disincentives for project-based vouchers. There were 66 participants representing a broad range of stakeholders in the voucher program at the forum held earlier this year in Seattle. A consensus statement was adopted by the group to support a framework of goals, principles, and policy options. The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) abstained from the statement, while several other groups signed an alternative statement saying there are necessary tradeoffs involved in achieving a reliable funding system.
