Newark Housing Authority Makes Push to Lease Vouchers

The Newark, N.J., Housing Authority (NHA) has launched an initiative to lease an additional 1,000 Section 8 vouchers this summer as part of a longer-term effort to work through a waiting list that was last reopened eight years ago.rnNHA Executive Director Keith Kinard has directed the voucher staff to lease up the additional vouchers in order to achieve HUD's program goal of full utilization of funds. The annual cost of the additional vouchers is estimated at $10 million.
