The city of Edgewater, a bustling community on the east coast of central Florida, US, is experiencing growing pains. As with many thriving cities throughout the US, Edgewater, nicknamed The Hospitality City, has grown faster than expected and is now demanding more than its current infrastructure can support. More specifically, the main roadways travelling to and from it are having trouble handling the ever-increasing average daily traffic. Therefore, in 2001, the state of Florida put a job up for bid to reconstruct State Road 442, the main roadway between Interstate 95 and US Highway 1. Originally a two-lane road, SR 442 would become a four-lane arterial under the plan, alleviating Edgewater's traffic woes.
