MADE IN AMERICA: MORLEE LAMPSHADE

You can probably count on your hands, maybe even on one hand, all of the companies in our industry, today, that make their whole product in house, in the good ol' USA. Morlee Lampshade is a very special company with a very interesting story. They have bucked all of the trends by finding their niche and dominating it. In these terrible economic times they have continued to grow by leaps and bounds. That kind of perfor mance is certainly no accident. It comes from great management and direction plus very dedicated employees. It's a story I like to tell and one that I hope spreads through our industry in a time when we manufacture less and less of our own consumer goods. I met Ronne Green Melnick, president, and her daughter Jeni Melnick Davenport, vice president, for the first time at the HD Boutique Show in Miami. They are delightful, non-assuming people and graciously invited me to visit their facility in Miami the following week. The fact that they produce upscale and special product to a niche audience and make it all here intrigued me.
