Matrix Metalloproteases In Hepatocellular Carcinoma -A Study In Resected Specimens From 25 Patients-

Matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) which degrade the extracellular matrix, are important factors in angiogenesis. The examination of the role of MMP in the carcinogenesis, prolifera- tion and infiltration of hepatocellular carcinoma may contribute to developing a new clinically applicable therapeutic maneuver. I immunohistologically examined the presence of MMPs, including MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-9, MT1-MMP and MT2-MMP, in cancerous and non-cancerous areas of resected tumor specimens from 25 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
