We Care ... We Have To

OK, I admit that my last job was a mess, I was doing a book for a charity, so I had to get by on the cheap. One benefactorrnoffered to donate the printing of the covers as long as I used her husband's print shop. Unfortunately, her husband didn't have the capability to produce plate-ready negatives, even when digitized layouts were supplied and composited. So, I had to find a separate service bureau that would produce the negatives. Added on to this sideshow of production fun was the fact that although my regular print provider was printing the body of the book, he had never heard of the benefactor's print shop and had never worked with the service bureau before.
