2007 was a record-breaking year for the helicopter industry, with several companies expanding production lines and manufacturing on existing or new sites ... Robinson Helicopter manufactured 823 new helicopters in 2007, the most civil helicopters ever produced in a single year by one company. Robinson also set the previous industry record of 806 aircraft in 2005. The company was visited by US President George Bush on 29 lanuary as part of a tour of southern California. The company has also set a new record for production of a single helicopter model in one year, completing 664 R44s. The prior record, again set by Robinson, was 563 R44s in 2005. Meanwhile the smaller R22 is also maintaining its market niche, with 159 produced last year. 70 percent of the aircraft sold were exported. Robinson expects the demand for both models to continue through 2008 and is planning to further increase its production rate, currently running at around 18 new aircraft per week.
