Naim Audio DVD5 & AV2

Naim added the AV2 processor to its catalogue three years ago, a surround-sound decoder designed to expand a stereo hi-fi system into one that could be used for home cinema or multi-channel music. Unusually, it was an audio-only product, where most such processors include video switching capability in the same box. At the time an additional video routing box was promised to follow, but this role has in part now been fulfilled by the Naim DVD5 DVD player, which was given a full technical review by Paul Miller in May 2004. To see how the two units work as the front-end of a music and film system, we decided to bring the pair together for further investigation.
