One of audiophilia's enduring fascinations is the quite staggering variety of means used to achieve what is, pretty much, a common aim. Electronics aside, the range of options available when it comes to loudspeakers is nothing short of mind-boggling. Efficiency or huge frequency range? Moving cones or electrostatic panels? Single drivers a la Lowther or massive arrays from Pipe Dreams? To be fair, the vast variation in listening habits and source material means that the horses for courses rule tends to apply, but does such a thing as a sonic all-rounder exist?
