It's Summer 1988 and, if I'm honest, we don't know what the hell we're doing. The NME is struggling to get to grips with this crazed coming new dance thing called Acid House, Bananarama and Bros are on the cover... and me? Well, I'm writing for a now defunct weekly music paper which used to be called Melody Maker and that's how come I'm unsteadily propping up the bar in some sweaty Chicago club bearing witness to an act that I'm reliably informed are about to change the world.
