No, this album is not here because I wrote the liner notes. It's here because the human voice is the hardest thing to reproduce (with apologies to those who say it's the pianoforte that's tougher), and because I was introduced to The Persuasions by the late Jason Bloom of Apogee, whom I miss to this day. The Persuasions brought a cappella to a new audience in the late 1960s, revering and preserving the most noble of vocal forms with arrangements and performances that simply dazzle. No song catalogue deserved The Persuasions' attention like this one.
