We're often given the impression that modern pop and rock music covers an ever-wider range of genres. But I do wonder if this may simply be due to the fact that people forget about other kinds of music. These days 'classic' popular music seems generally to be regarded as pop and rock that appeared between the 1950s and 1980s. But what about earlier eras and other ears?
