A restaurant owner has been imprisoned for six years for the manslaughter of a customer who had a peanut allergy and unwittingly ate a curry containing peanut powder. The restaurant owner, Mohammed Zaman, had introduced the powder to save money. He was aware of the risks because he had been warned and advised by a Trading Standards officer just three weeks before the fatal incident, after another customer suffered a near fatal allergic reaction from a peanut-containing takeaway from the same restaurant.
