In Situ Bioremediation of DNAPL Source Zones

An August 2005 report issued by EPA provides an overview of the use of in situ bioreme-diation to remediate dense nonaqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) source zones. The report, which is entitled "In 'Situ Bioremediation of DNAPL Source Zones," describes the key steps in DNAPL bioremediation, including site characterization, system design, and post-treatment monitoring. The report also discusses the use of bioremediation as a polishing treatment for DNAPL source zones, and presents several case studies.
