This year's Total P&P exhibition at the Birmingham NEC this past May 15-18 gave both domestic and overseas industrial packagers a chance to showcase their wares and demonstrate in the flesh just how their systems can add value to a shipper's operations The Total P&P show featured a line-up of more than 1,000 exhibitors from 37 countries, but there was nevertheless a general consensus that this year's fair was somewhat quieter than previous events. While one exhibitor put this down to the rise of the internet as a rival means of providing research on companies and products, another pointed to the effect of increased consolidation and subsequent centralisation within the major user groups, observing that as a result of this trend "a lot of the decision making process is now outside the UK".
