Netherlands-headquartered IMCD has reached an agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares in Brazil's Selectchemie. Based in Sao Paulo, the company was founded in 1970 and is currently owned by Selectchemie AG of Switzerland and two of its present managers. Described by IMCD as "the leading distributor of pharmaceutical ingredients in Brazil", it represents "world-leading producers from the US, Europe and Asia" and boasts an extensive range of excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients "which complements IMCD's existing position in Brazil". Employing a staff of 43, it last year generated revenues of BRL 68m ($17.5m). IMCD says it intends to retain Selectchemie's current management and staff once the acquisition has been completed.
