The end of an era -Lauritzen exits the reefer business

Whenever thinking about reefer cargoes in shipping in the past, one name immedi-ately came to mind: Lauritzen Reefer. In the wake of the containerization now also this era has ended. In the year 1905 J. Lauritzen commenced as a pioneer adventurer with the reefer trades, carrying citrus from Spain to England. During the 1920s and 1930s the owner Company gained a leading role in this field and its ac-tivities extended to more remote places like Chile, Ecuador, Brazil and South Africa.
